Edukasi Kesehatan Pemanfaatan Probiotik untuk Terapi Insomnia pada Remaja di SMA/SMK Amanah Nusantara Makassar

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa di SMA/SMK Amanah Nusantara Makassar mengenai terapi non-farmakologis untuk menangani insomnia di kalangan remaja. Insomnia adalah gangguan tidur berupa kesulitan untuk memulai tidur. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada penurunan fungsi kognitif (seperti kurang fokus), labilitas emosi, gangguan suasana hati (mood) dan kesehatn fisik serta penurunan kualitas hidup. Berbasis pada bukti ilmiah terkini yang mengaitkan gangguan tidur dengan disfungsi sumbu usus-otak (gut-brain axis). Metode pelaksanaan berupa penyuluhan kesehatan yang diselenggarakan di Gedung Aula Sekolah SMA/SMK Amanah Nusantara Makassar yang melibatkan 50 peserta. Materi mencakup konsep insomnia, hubungan sumbu usus-otak (gut-brain axis), serta bukti ilmiah peran probiotik. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta terkait mekanisme di mana probiotik memodulasi mikrobiota usus, menghasilkan metabolit seperti asam lemak rantai pendek dan neurotransmitter (GABA dan serotonin), yang dapat mengurangi peradangan sistemik dan memperbaiki sinyal tidur. Kegiatan ini berhasil memberikan pengetahuan kesehatan terkait pendekatan yang aman dan mudah diakses dalam penanganan insomnia melalui optimasi kesehatan pencernaan atau modulasi mikrobiota usus. Oleh karena itu, edukasi berbasis bukti ilmiah efektif meningkatkan kesadaran akan peran probiotik sebagai strategi penunjang terapi insomnia.
